Default battery charging system warning light

I did the search and learned a lot, thanks to all who posted on this subject previously.

I use our 96' S320 for winter driving. To my surprise, it started with just a slight hesitation after sitting idle for 5 1/2 month. After three weeks of very short distance driving the battery charging warning light comes on occasionally, especially if I turn on the heat. As suggested on previous threats: check battery, alternator.....

One question, could this be heating system related? If yes, where should I start to check?

TIA and happy holidays!

I did a search and could not find another thread. Link anybody?
Anyway, ('96 S600 W140) Battery Charging warning light has been coming on intermittently but more "on" than "off" for about 2 weeks (yellow warning light, picture of a battery on it). Car has no trouble starting or in use. Took it to mechanic recently. He said initially that it was probably the brushes on the alternator wearing out and that I might need another alternator. Then I took it in again when the light came on and he checked the voltage across the battery terminals as 14.0 volts (with the warning light on). He says that is the perfect voltage indicating no problem with the alternator. So what else would this warning light be sensing?

Yup when the battery warning light is on .. means your alternator needs to be repaired... aka check those carbon bushes .. aging factor "worn off "

let us know on your finding
