I need some serious help. My 1992 mercedes 300se is stuck with the asr light on and it wont shift past 2nd or 3rd gear. I dont know why the light went off but it happened after I changed the water pump. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are sensors in the front of the car to check or if there is a way to figure out what is causing the problem without actually having a mb scanner. I need the car to get to work and back and I have no idea where to start looking. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

ASR (anti slip regulator) check the following: throttle actuator line for cracks/deterioration, potentiometer, proper adjustment of throttle cable and transmission shifting cable, the reason for the non shifting of transmission is your moving on a limp home mode, if you are unfamiliar on the adjustments, I strongly suggest you let some one who knows do the work for you to avoid any more damage, but if you are capable then that should be an easy task.
