Default Another Suspension Question 2000 s430

Today I put a new set of 18 inch rims with Goodyear 245/45's on my 2000 s430. The problem is that now I notice that the right rear seems to sit about 1/2 inch lower than the left side and if I hit a bump while turning left it sometimes hit the top of the wheel well. This issue likely existed before I got these tires, so my question is: does this mean I have an air suspension issue, or is there something else that can be done to remedy the issue? The suspension appears to work fine otherwise.

SLEEPWALKER...any suggestions on how to resolve? ANYBODY have this same issue?

Thanks in advance.

Since you've swapped out the Rims you should take it in for an alignment. But..... To align these cars properly you need a “Romess Inclinometer Ride Height Toolâ€. I personally would take it to a dealer who knows how to use the Romess Tool and have the ride height set, then have them align it to specs..

Hope this helps.

Cheers

As much as I hate the stealership (and they hate mods) SL600 may be on to something. Have you calculated or measured the outside diameter compared to the original OD? Your wheel tire combo may be too big which changes your gearing, speedometer and causes it to clunk on the fender well.

As long as the size is close, lots of people are having problems on the 300C forums with up sized wheels.

sl600 - are you saying they can adjust the ride height? Kings the OD did not change, so I have no issues with gearing or odometer reading. Again, the main issue is that the ride height on the right rear appears to be 1/2 inch lower than the left side. Are you saying this can be adjusted?

The ride height can be adjusted with the Romess Inclinometer Ride Height Tool. I agree with seeing a master tech or a dealer.

Can someone explain HOW this RIRHT tool works? I just want to know howw they can adjust the height. When I called my dealer to explain the situation, the service managers reaction was that it probably could not be adjusted. typical for those guys though at the "stealership" to not take a moment to explain the possible options. Thinking of taking it to another dealer but it would be nice to at least know the lingo on how this tool wrosks in case they try to play me and say i need the airmatic susp replaced.

Sweet looking wheels banker, all you need now is to get rid of those frumpy tail lights (as I did this weekend) for upgraded 03-05 lights. Not only do they look better, the lens clarity is superb. I have a source if you are interested.
