Default 92 S500 Question, HELP!

Hi guys, I am new to this board.

I am hoping you will be able to help me out with a problme I have.

I am buying a 92 500SEL in mint condition, very nice car with every option possible.
Problem is, the AC blower is not blowing at all not on heat or AC, fan is not working. At the same time, the radi doesnt turn on and the blinkers dont blink, but the HAZARDS work.
Also the rear strut is making noise.

Can you tell me where to start with the ventilation system? Could it be a fuse?

Thank you very much!

Any idea which fuse it is and where to look for it. Thanks for support. This is my first Benz.

Also, if I wanted to change the radio Unit, will I be able to use the stock amps for the stock speakers?

Thanks guys

The first thing I would check is that the blower has not siezed up, I think the blower regulator is in the ground cicuit (that means voltage is present all the time) but the ground path is varied by a signal from the heater/AC control. You could disconnect the regulator and put voltage to the blower. The regulator is a few hundred, and the blower afew hundred more. If you remove the large Phillips screws on the air intake at the base of the windshield, and disconect the hoses going to the flaps you can lift it up. The air filter will be viseable and the motor/regulator is under it. I replaced the rgulator a few years ago, and recently heard a few random squeeks, the the fan was slow to come on, and then did not. I went back in spun the fan, it came on, I lubricated the bearing and sucess.

There are things to consider asking questions about. If the AC evaporator has not been changed, subtract 3,000$. If the close assist pump has not been changed 1,000$. If the "Bose amp is origional 600$. I think most everything is considered "maintenance".
The answer to your other question "NO" the audio system is eleven speakers thru a seven channel amp that was used only 92 to 94. The thing you think of as a radio is the control unit for the tuner that sits at the base of the drivers side rear wheel housing. If you have the cd the cables are routed thru it and back to the tuner. The balance is handled thru the radio the front to back handled thru the fader on the console. in 95 they changed to a different radio. There are some out there who have replaced everything, sincnce it is all intigrated into the various looms. The speakers outboard are for the CTEL so dont expect them to work. (2) ea front door (1) ea rear) (2) each side in back deck, wired in series. and one behind the mirror.

the fuses are located in the engine compartment and in the trunk... it should have a list showing you what the fuses are for.

Ac evap is $250 and all the rest is Labor? For gods sakes I will do the job myslef before I pay some moneky so much. My dads Town Car needed $400 for the same job, so unless that dash is welded i dont see what the big deal is.

As for the Radio, it said Waiting and never made a sound. But with blinkers not working, AC blower and Radio, I am thinking its a fuse somewhere.
