Hello, my 1992 MB 500SEL is having an issue.

I recently had the catalytic converter replaced (with an aftermarket if it makes any difference). Since I had it replaced- and it may have nothing to do with the current problem- the cruise control does not work and odometer does not register new miles.

Does anyone know what could be causing this, did something not get plugged back in when the cat was replaced, or is it likely unrelated? Thanks

 

Does your speedometer work ok? If yes, try having theerror codes checked. Could also be a fuse in one of a couple places. If speedometer and speed indicator works ok, it seems ifanything transmission speedometer connection was disconnectedit is working now. If a cable was disconnected and then car started driven, an error code or a fuse blown could occur if things were crossed up somewhere in electrical connections. Hopefully it is not one of the computer modules.

Yes, the speedometer works ok. The trip mileage and odometer and cruise control are the things not working. Let me know if you have any ideas on what I can do. Unfortunately, I know only basic things aboutcar repair.

I'm interested in this too. My speedometer works fine but odometer is not turning. 1987 560SEL. Let me know if you gat advice. I have little mechanical knowledge as well.
