Question 560SEL suspension

Hi . I have bought a 1987 560SEL with 34,000 miles on it.Its fitted with the self leveling suspension I think!!! Its very bouncy on the road and doesn't seem to have any shocks in the front, is this right or has someone taken them out???? Also there isn't an owners manual with the car so I dont know what the adjustment switchs in the car should be set too or when they should be adjusted etc.
If anyone can help it would be great.

Hi - I've just been going through the learning process on self-leveling and hydro-pneumatic suspension on the sel models in the '80s.
What I've learned is that some models have full hydro-pneumatic suspension (and therefore have no shocks) and this is sometimes problematic.
The first thing is - do you have a suspension height adjustment **** just next to the headlight switch on the consul beside the steering column. If so - it adjusts to three heights - low, medium and high. If you have one of these, then you have the hydro-pneumatic and you should search the forums here for more info.
You could try putting the ride lower and seeing if that improves the ride enough. If not, then enjoy learning about the joys of managing the system.
Cheers
