Default 500sel question

Hi, guys, I got my 500 sel a week ago and I love it. Fixed the fan, the radio and all for $50. I put int the blower bmotor from another car and it fit perfectly, works perfect too. Now all I need is that relay that controls speed.

Small question. The operating temp creeps up to 100-110 mark. Is the bar between 80 and 120 a 100? Its hard to tell. It never get sto the red zone, but really close to the the white mark next to the red zone. I might be paranoid, but i dont want the car to overheat or blow a gasket or something. I read some posts here but none go into much detail. The aux fans work,. fast and slow. Fan clutch is tight.

Also, the vacuum doors work most of the time, but some times they go out and dont work at all. What could be the problem?

Thank you very much.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

If the engine warms-up fast and keeps steady temperature regardless the load, that is indication that thermostat is working.
Higher temperature display might be gauge errors.
Get one of those infra-red thermometers ($29 at Radio Shack on sale) and confirm it.

Trace back to the source of the vacuum, it could be the vacuum pump.

Thanks guys.

It looks like it stays planted at 110 with AC in 100 degree 90%HUM weather.
Its just so close to the red zone that I start to feel paranoid. I dont like running that hot, all kinds of bad things can happen. Blown head gasket, blown hoses etc.
But in normal temperature (70-90F) it is 100F zone.

I would do as Kajtek1 has suggested.

Buy a non-contact thermometer and scan the radiator for cool spots.

Or you could pull the radiator and flush it out. When flushing a radiator, I usually send the flow of water in the opposite direction of the normal flow. That way if anything has plugged a rod 'cause it's too big to fit down through it, then it'll get pushed out the hose hole.

Hope this helps
