Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me out with some diagrams of where and how this electromagnetic transponder is attaching and to what modules on a 1998 S500 4 door?
My car was stolen [:@]. I got it back pretty much taken apart on the inside and now I can't even get it started because the ring around the ignition (key-transponder) has been yanked out.

Any help would be greatly appreaciated as my local Mercedes dealer isn't being too cooperative!

I have no clue on your question but I do know that a CD ROM shop manual should (if one is available).

You might post to see if someone has one and can burn you a copy (a forum brother got me one for my 300C on that board). On this forum, if you are lucky someone might reply in a year or two. GLuck.

 

you will find the transponcer control unit sitting on top of steering column.

once you remove the instrument cluster, it is visible.
