Common problem, "road force balancing" where the tire is spun and a wheel is held against it to check roundness. It costs a little more, but helps. I did not see control arm links, steering damper or lower control arm bushings in your list. I have had the problem off and on on my 92 since 94, carefull balancing seems to reduce it. I have also changed engine mounts along with all you did, a lot was done under warranty before it ran out. They all were aware of it but a fix was never published. BENZ lowered the car in 95 and made some suspension changes, I also went away from Michelin to (Bridgestone Turanzas and run them around 36 cold). You can spin balance a brick by putting weights on the narrow sides but it wont be smooth.

Have you checked the steering dampener? It retails for about $90 and can be installed in 20 mins.
My tire guy told me about this same problem with several MB's, all with 70K + miles, and this solved the problem. He said it feels like the tire has slung a weight.

My car does the same thing! It's a 1995 S420! The exact same thing! If I go over 60mph, it's better...if I go under 45 it's better...but as soon as I hit between 45 and 55mph, it shimmies...this one shop told me it was my lower control arm bushings going bad. I did the wheel balancing and NOTHING happened...even rotated the tires...it's NOT the tires/wheels, that's for sure.
Try the lower control arm bushings...just ask a shop about that to see if they say the same thing...I never got mine fixed. I'm used to it now...hahaha..

I've just fixed something that sounds similar. Those vibes can be any number of things but check out this link and have a read...good luck

I would have carrier bearing checked out. I had simiular problem on 740iL and 2 of S500. We took those cars to balance wheels and check brakes several times. It did not help. Changing carrier bearing solved the issue though. I hope it helps.
