Anyone out there have a European 500 SEL with 2.8L 6 cylinder in it, if so I could use some pics of the engine bay, really need to know sensor area of head on passenger side and vacuum hoses on drivers side. Any pictures would be helpful.

 

I dont know if you are still on this forum, but I am fairly certain that the 500 SEL has a large block V8 in it. I Believe that the numbers refer to the engine and the letter refer to the model. SE= Large luxury Sedan and the L= a longer body and more leg room. There for if you would like to see a 2.8l V6 you should be looking for a 300 SEL or a 320 SEL or somthing to that nature.

Sounds to me like he has the 2.8 I6 under the hood/bonnet, but has the 500SEL emblem on the decklid. <IMG src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0"></P>

I finally figured it out, what I have is a 280SEL imported in as a 500SEL, therefore the problem with the motor, I replaced the motor, and the new one has less on it than the old, so a couple of things on the drivers side, having to do with vacuums and switchs are not connected up. Was wanting to know what they were for, I found out from a Book company that they are in the process of translating the German manual over to English, so one day I may lay out the cash and get a good manual for it.</P>
