Default '04 S430 - Fault Code P0341

I only have 32,000 miles on the odo.
Just recently the CheckEngineLight (yellow) has come on.
After approx 3 re-starts the CEL would go out.
However, I am also experiencing intermittent difficulty in starting the engine - where the engine does not start, though it tries

Thus, I had the fault code read.
It indicated P0341 -
indicating possible issues with -
- cam sensor
- camshaft

I read somewhere and was informed that the above problem can be caused by dirt build-up on or around the sensors - especially because the car is not driven on a daily basis.

I have also heard that this is somewhat of a regular issue with the S-Class.

Can someone please confirm if the above info has merit ?
If so, then please make any & all recommendations on what to look for and what part or issue to address.

If not, then what other issue or part can be causing the above problems.

Thanks.

Check the connection at the camshaft position sensor for oil saturation. sometimes the sensor will leak oil internaly and contaminate the engine wiring harness. If all is good, replace the sensor.
