01 s430 brakes
That by far was one of thesimplest brake jobs I have ever done! (and I have not done many)
1. take wheel off
2. knock pins out...remember how the clip sits under the pins
3. pull old pads out...you may have to compress the piston with a screw driver
4. put new pads in
5. put pin and clip back on
6. new sensor
7. put wheel back on..this was the hardest part!!!!!!
rears only have one pin...
I can't believe how fast that was!!!!

RE: 01 s430 brakes
Standard job. Similar on most cars.
Maybe you compare with front wheel driver single sided calipers which require the caliper to be removed.
Note: Don't forget to correctly torque the wheel nuts (lugs). Rotors like to be seated with even clamping load to avoid warping etc.
Stuart.
