Just got 01 S430 with 78K.Check engine light allready ON.Should I get extended warrenty or not???Cause they pretty expensive around $4000 For Bumper to Bumper one..Any Suggestions??? Give me some good web-sites for warranty

Has anyone ever heard of MB offering an extended factory warranty when the car is more than 12 months old? I inquired when my 2001 was 14 months and still under factory warranty and was told that a factory extended could only be purchased in the first 12 months.This seemedodd because I thought other brands would let you purchase an exteneded warranty as long as the original factory warranty was still in effect.
For most companies the extended warranty is a money maker. Apparently MB feels that possible/probable upcoming repairs will exceedthe amount that they can charge for the extended warranty. Not exactly a concept that tends to give a purchaser confidence in the product.

You could buy extended warranty from Daimler any time before your original one expires now you can buy any warranty but not from Daimler
