HMM I emailed Mercedes Benz( where I bought car) yesterday and he said that it only transfers to a private individual-he said if you trade it in to a non Mercedes dealership that CPO doesn't transfer and they will add one fo their warranties- here is email from him:
Of course you can trade it in. It adds value because it’s been under warranty since day 1. If it is traded in to a dealer of a different make, the CPO is voided because different make dealers are not permitted to market Mercedes Benz certified pre-owned cars, plus that dealer would rather sell their own aftermarket warranties. Having it CPO’ed now still adds value to your trade in. Its only when you sell it to an individual that the actual warranty stays intact. If you want to trade it in elsewhere, you should have any warranty work done that it could need so the trading dealer, if not a MB dealer, can’t claim that it needs work.
I plan to call another place today to confirm-
