I have a 2003 ML350. A few days ago the "SRS" light came on while driving down the road. It stayed on all the way to work, 5 miles, and came on again on the way home. Coincidentally the radio was not on when the light first came on. On the way home I turned on the radio and within a few seconds, the SRS light went out. It seems as long as the radio is on the light stays out. But, it gets more strange. Now while driving the radio turns itself off. And of course when it does the SRS light comes back on. If I switch the radio back on, the SRS light goes out. On a four hour trip the radio turned itself off twice. And of course the SRS light came back on. The overhead garage door buttons seem to have quit working too. Does anyone have any clues?

 

Sounds like a common can bus controller problem to me. I had an SRS light problem with an E class once. During a seat removal I found that the wires for the SRS sensor were grounding out on the bottom of the seat. I taped it up and the problem went away for good.
