WHEN I TURN RIGHT WITH THE TURN SIGNAL ON IT DOESNT TURN OFF OR RESET ITSELF
HOW MUCH WORK IS IT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND WHAT PARTS WOULD I NEED ?


ALSO I USE ABOUT A QT OF OIL EVERY 5000 MILES IS THIS THE NORMAL FOR MB?

it is the combination switch already that's faulty.

not normal oil consumption for 112 engine. the piston ring needs to be replaced and also valve seals.

 

One quart every 5,000 miles seems more than acceptable. Why are you keeping the oil so long?

I had mb change the oil they said its good for 10k but at 5k the oil light will come on and it was 3/4 qt low so i drop a qt in now its at 10k and the light started to come on im going to change the oil this time using moblie one sync. and save a 100

still dont under stand about the turn signal.

any thoughts

Every 5,000 miles is okay for synthetic oil, but 10,000 miles is pushing it. Anyway, the consumption shouldn't concern you.

I don't know about the turn signal.

 

it just that some are concerned more about oil consumption, while others don't mind much.

you're right, 1 quart per 5k miles is still on acceptable level, specially on his 3 year old engine... but it can be minimized.

i have slaughtered a few 112 engine 3 years ago (which i believe his production date is within the range of those). those were having lesser mileage but consuming the same. i have come to such point in driving the car for 10k kilometer just to do the oil consumption measurement because germany was asking for it. after that, the piston ring and valve seals were modified (the reason why the problem doesn't occur to newer production).

anyway, those that the parts i replaced doesn't consume much anymore except for two cars which i have to redo the same procedure again.

the best sign is to remove the oil filler cap and see the sticky brown oil sticking from the inside. you can immediately tell that there is a good blowby happening inside. removing the camshaft cover will give a very bright visual check to confirm it. really messy inside.

 

I agree that it can be minimized. Does it make sense to tear the engine apart if it uses 3/4 of a quart per 5,000 miles? That's the question. Even MB didn't do anything about it by your account.

 

in USA, it will cost a too much for such job. i feel dizzy about thinking how much it may cost.

 

I wonder if I could save any money if I shipped my car to you for major repairs? Hmmm.
