Default Sleepwalker or any other genius

I read a lot of your reply posts so I trust you know what you're talking about. Could you help me out? I own a 2000 Mercedes ML430 and have experienced similar problems as another guest who just posted regarding engine riding rough during acceleration.

I figured it to be a bad fuel injector. However after taking it in to a local mechanic who I don't really trust yet since it's only the 2nd time they have ever looked at my truck, I was told it had the following problems. This is their exact terminology, does it seem vague to you?

1) Bad wiring harness ON spark plug

2) Bad engine coil

3) Bad ignition wire

They said the fuel injectors are fine.

Total cost to replace the above AND reset the computer is $800.00

Does this sound about right to you? Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. I totally respect your knowledge and have learned a lot since reading here. I just want to make sure I'm not getting roped. Also, they just tuned my car up for $300 bucks about 2 months ago, but didn't replace the spark plugs since they said they aren't due to be replaced until 100,000 miles. The truck presently has about 80,000 miles on it.

Thanks so much!!!!

engine riding rough during acceleration
i would go for the sparkplug first and air mass sensor.

if the ignition coil/leads are faulty, they run rough all the time. very rare on your engine for these parts to get faulty.

i thought sparkplugs lasts 100k km and not miles? and even if you didn't reach that 100k km in 1 year, you need to replace them anyway.
