Default PURCHASE INFO ON 00 ML320

I am thinking about purchasing a 00 ML320 with 63k and has had two owners. The ML appears to be
in excellent condition. I can purchase the M-class for $11500. Can I depend on this suv to transport
my wife and newborn child as a daily driver?

Thank you for your time and help
Bobby

I am close to buying a 2000 ML320 myself. I've read that they have a lot of issues but that should mainly be for the '98 and '99 models. 11500 is a really good price! Make sure to run a carfax on it...

Other than reliability, I read that it is a very safe car! One of the reasons I picked this car for my girlfriend. She is not the greatest driver and there's a lot of traffic in SoCal...

Good luck!

I've owned my 03 ML-350 for about 2 years. I've been stranded twice requiring tow, and the car has been in the shop for tons of minor issues. Total shop visits is up to 15. I'm a previous 2 time BMW owner and I'd have to say the build quality and service quality of the mercedes is horrible compared to the BMW. There is less than a snowball chance in hell that I'd put another penny into another MB product. My .02, look at a X5, X3, RX-330/RX-300 or MDX if you want to buy a "quality" used sport Ute. Good luck.

We are original owners of 99 model (picked up in September 98),
So far for almost 60k miles the car is perfect. I guess the problem is lack of consistency in quality of those cars assembled in US. There was a guy posting here, that his family walked from rollover accident in this model.
BTW when you read, the car can tow 5000 lb, don't believe it.
It can pull much more and "fly" with it.

I thought you were supposed to buy Swedish for safety?

I've mostly been a BMW driver; no problems at all! I did have 2 Mercedes A classes in Europe; no problems either. Now I recently bought a 2000 ML320. The car looks in excellent shape but after everything I read I feel like I should be prepared for it to break down every day :-( !!

Well, I will give it a year and if it sucks, it goes out the door. I do like driving it though; much better than a Lexus RX (or should I say Camry ;-)...

That is history.
Make it Hummer today.
But ... the versions available on US market now don't offer original roof-mounted bazookas. [X(]

The bazooka offers a different kind of safety.

I don't think the Hummer is very safe in collisions. I may be wrong, though. I'm assuming it's like all other trucks in America. It doesn't have crumple zones and 5 mph bumpers because trucks aren't required to have them. Today's trucks are built like '53 Buicks. Huge and unforgiving in a collision.
