Default ML500 real fuel efficiency

I use to drive 2002 ML320 and a month ago my lease was due. So, I got another truck, but now ML500 '02 with very low mileage. The car itself looks like a couple months ago from the shooroom.
My question is - using trip computer and checking the average fuel efficiency in city, I got pretty bad numbers - 9 miles per galon ;(

So, anybody would share their numbers??

Thanks to all !

Make sure when you fill the tank you press the rocker switch to reset. This will begin a new average. The 2 mpg readouts are for actual, this changes as you drive. The second is the average. I leave it there and reset at fillup. I have an 02 500, I get 13 in town. On the highway 16 is average. Oddly I got 19 during a trip thru Vermont in the mountains? I averages 80mph and it loved that speed? I think these vehicle are so heavy, speed is your friend. Stop and go is a killer.

03 ML-350 here. Averages 12-13 around town, best on hwy trips has been 18 and that was because that part of the trip was mostly down hill. I have 35k miles and overall very disappointed with gas mileage so far.

The '05 ML350 is EPA rated at 15 mpg city and 18 mpg hwy. That would make the numbers you guys are reporting typical.

The ML-350 and 500 get bad gas mileage.

My 2002 ML500 with 62000 miles on it and A/C on all the time ( Hawaii ) averages almost exactly 17.3 to 17.5 mpg , according to the trip computer. I spend about 1/3rd of my drive time sitting at stop lights, or so it seems. I think that is pretty good for AWD and a heavy vehicle.

NYC_Lola,

I drive my '01 430 in NYC as well (bought it 2 weeks ago) and am also averaging 9 mpg in stop and go traffic. My dealer mentioned that this doesn't sound right and that I should be getting 13 mpg or so. He suggested that I bring it in to have it checked.

What type of mpg were you getting in NYC with your 320??

Darryl
