I have a '99 ML430. Bought it used and my A/C suddently stopped working. Saw other comments with the same situation. I was told today my compressor "seized up". I have extended warranty; however, I have not checked. Bet you it NOT covered. I guess I will just have to look around for a decent price for a new compressor. Any suggestion?
Not been my week. Sold my old car this week too and was being driven home by the soon to be new owner when the the car died! My head gasket is shot, sadly it is chaper to buy a new engine. There goes the money I might have got for this car. Buyer still wants it but I won't make a dime on it!! Can't win. Been this way since March.

your a/c problem may not be the same with others, so it is better to do some basic check before deciding on a new compressor since it's quite expensive.

if you can just remove the belt and turn the compressor by hand, you will feel if there normal, hard or soft connection.

 

I took my ML to a reliable garage. They said the compressor is seized up. They know I will usually buy my own parts, they provide the labor for my repairs.

 

HAPPY DAY... My compressor is covered by my warranty. Most posting I read found that they were not covered, so I did not look until today. My warranty wasen't cheap, but this repair will make a lot of the cost worth it purchase price.
