Default ML320 temperature gauge at 3/4 level

Hi,

I have noticed in the past few days that the temperature gauge in my car is at 3/4 level instead of in the middle as it had been.
I checked the coolant level in the expansion tank and it is ok. I did not see the 2 fans in the front of the radiator run even at this temperature, wouldn't they ? I pull out the big fuse for the fan for AC and wasnt able to tell if it is blown. Any thing I can do further ? any advice ?
I was about to take the car to have the coolant system flushed and refilled, is this the right thing to do ?

Regards, KB.

We were having that same problem (engine temp. 3/4 of the way up) and took it to the dealer. They couldnt find anything because it "checked out ok". Also, the A/C was blowing warm during this time. Took them to another dealer and found that the 30amp fuse was blown and the wire harness that runs the aux. fans was shorting out. Apparently Mercedes had a retrofit kit for this wire harness that was never installed.
