hi happy new year everyone,even though mine aint goin any good!

other day my car(1999 ml320-140,000km) started to make rattling noise and it would shudder before moving,once going it was ok.
next day sarted my car and noticed rough idling,when i went to put it into drive it would not engage in any gear,sometime if i switch off and wait it would engage in drive but in like 30 sec it would diingauge again.i had it towed to mercedes dealer they told me my transfer case was gone so they ordered a new one at quoted price of $3800.00 installed.i got a call back again 2 days later saying they put the transfer case in but the same problem is still there and they will look into it 0n jan 3rd 2005 which is tommorrow.if anybody can tell me what they think the problem might be i would be very greatfull and what should i do about the time the dealer has already put in without solving any problems.

sounds like ETC (transmission) control module problem.

what did they say the fault code was?
no power to the valves?
