Does anyone know where I can find some good detailed instructions (with pics is best) on how to repair a driver side cup holder. The gear wheel that's attached to the dash and not the cup holder appears to be broken from what I can see from the small gap. The gear wiggles and looks like it's only purpose is to keep the cup holder aligned. Thanks for your help in advance.

 

in the center console or near the ashtray?

if no screw then it should come out by prying.

 

That thing popped in my wife ML each time the cup holder was open and I was getting into the car. My knee always made a perfect contact [&:]
Had dealers fix it few times, till finally I took a look and figured out how to put it back. Don't remember the details, but it was quite easy (for me) with the only trick in putting the spring back.
