Newbie here. just purchased a 270cdi ml inspiration and having a few issues and I think I may have just wasted £3500.

I hope you experienced members can help and look forward to hearing your expert opinions.

Well my husband picked up the car this evening and he thought he would use the cruise control on the motorway and as soon as he started the cruise control the whole car died on him, he turned off the engine and it restarted.

On starting the ignition not all warning lights are illuminated.

The centre of the dash is dull, I have tried to twiddle with the adjusting light stick but still duller then each side.

The outside temperature and display that indicates Park. reverse natural, 4 gear is blank.

On putting headlights into auto the dash doesnt light up.

When using full beam the headlights then completely turn off after turning off full beam.

Not sure if these are all related problems or individual.

Your advice would be greatly appriecated.

This is a new car? or used ? did you buy it at a Benz dealer? sound like a battery issue or charging issue. first thing I would check. battery connections etc. could be water in the car too.

Thanks for your reply this is a used car, 10 years old. And was a private sale. Will check battery, how can you check if its water?

 

some of the symptoms you have don't sound very good. And all of those things shouldn't be happening.


feel the floor carpet for wetness. under the dash area, mostly on the passenger side. usually if you have water in the car you will get moisture on the inside of the windows. comes in from the sunroof drains usually. also check the ground cables under the hood at the fire wall area, you will see 2 large black wires 1 on each side. make sure they are tight. I think they are 10 or 11mm. ive seen them come loose and cause weird stuff to happen.
