Default How much $ to install Nav on ML320

I just purchased a 2002 ML320. Navigation is not installed. I've read a few posts here about installing nav, but I still have a few questions:

1) How much money am I looking at?
2) Does the dealer have to get involved?
3) Do I have to be a mechanic to do it (I'm not).

I'm also interested in installing the NAV system in my 2003 ML320.
Looking forward to the comments!

Installing the Navi Drive is not hard to do. There is Dealer programming that is required. you might possibly need a new GPS antenna and splitter.

why not just buy a standalone gps for about $200 and up. they require no installation, and can be taken to another car (i.e. rental).

I totally recommend the Garmin C3xx. I have a Garmin and my Dad has the one from Merdedes in his ML 500. Mine is so much more practical, and the SW upgrades don't cost an arm and a leg.

Hi,

I have a command 2 SATNAV on my ML and a TomTom 6 on my phone. The Command 2, besides being sooooo much more expensive, it is far less practical than the tomtom or any newer commercial gps system. I drive mainly in London, and if I don't know exactly the name of the local city council, the command 2will not find the road in the database! This is completely un-practical and turns me mad.

If you still want to spend top money for this item, then I suggest a double din 7 inch DvD player with Gps function. Pioneer, Alpine and many other good brands have these in production. You'll end with a real entertainment device in your car and a better gps sys at a fraction of the price of the original Command.
