I would suspect it is your brake light switch. It's a rather inexpensive part less than $15

you can also try to turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and the right all the way, do it like 2 times and the light might go out. it can also be a lateral acceleration sensor or Yaw rate sensor. or like the pevious post said the brake swith.

I had a problem with a ML 320 2002, the lights came on when it rained. The cause chaffing of wires behind the left wheel as the sensor wires (ABS and ETS) from the the left rear hub cross over the left main frame on route behind the gas tank

I have the same problem with my 97 E420.
TheABS and ASR lights came on after making a left turn in the rainy. I checked and cleaned all four sensors for all wheels. But the lights are still there.
Any suggestion?
