ETC light on ML 270
I was wondering if anyone has an idea on what is causing my ML 270 diesel to misbehave?

It is a 2003 with only 15.000 Km on the clock.

Atoday the EPC light came on, with a subsequent loss of power, it sounded if the fuel injection pump had been retarded. On re-starting the engine it was fine below.

Does anybody know what appened?

Any input would be gratefully received

Many thanks

ETS Control Mode
Brake intervention - both wheels
ā¢ Both rear wheels at least 2.8 km\h (1.7 mph) faster
than vehicle speed
+
ā¢ Cornering recognition: Speed difference between left
and right front wheels > 1km\h (.6 mph)
+
ā¢ speed range = 15-80 km\h (9-50mph)
ā¢ On period: maximum of 2 secondsTemperature Monitoring
To prevent brake overheating in exceptional cases,
brake temperature is calculated. If maximum
temperature is reached ETS is cancelled.
Driver is notified my the MIL
Temperature is evaluated separately for each rear
wheel based on:
ā¢ Vehicle speed
ā¢ brake operation
ā¢ Calculated brake pressure

[8D]Engine Torque Reduction
If wheel spin is recognized at both rear wheels, the
traction control module request an engine torque
reduction from the ME control module via the CAN.
The ME control module can reduce engine torque by:
ā¢ Retarding the ignition timing
ā¢ Closing the throttle plate
ASR Functions
Below 40 km/h(25mph),1 Wheel slips ,Brake applied First ,Throttle controlled Second
2 Wheels slip ,Throttle controlled First ,Brakes applied Second
Above 40 km/h(25mph)Throttle controlled First,Brakes applied Second
Throttle controlled First, Brakes applied Second
Turns, 20-120km/h(12 to 75mph) Throttle controlled First ,Brakes applied Second
(With lower slip threshold)

final i find this
Hidden Changes
Shift Into Optimal Gear (SOG) Function
ā¢ With the gear lever held in the
āD-ā direction, the ETC control
module calculates the gear which
provides the best possible
acceleration or deceleration.
ā¢ Selecting and holding selector
lever in the āD+ā direction, the
transmission shifts directly to
