Default 270 CDI 2003 - BAS ESP light on

Had this light on for a while. Sometimes comes on after a short drive and sometimes as soon as ignition switched on. Tried resetting (turning lock to lock) but no joy.
Any thoughts on what to do next?
Thanks

I would start with checking your brake light switch at the pedal. There is two sets of contacts, one brakes off after so many cycles shorts out. Should be Part No. A 001 545 87 09 and it's $15 at the dealer. I had to replace mine last october because of the lights. Search this forum for switch replacement instructions, it's very easy task.
Good luck, Bernard

Default ML270cdi Oil Recommendation

Hi Forum Members,
I am wanting to change the engine oil this week before I head up to Bundaberg from Sydney this week.
I have a 2001 ML 270cdi travelled 160,000Klms and would like recomendations as to the most suitable engine oil.
Many Thanks
Arthur

Hi Arthur and welcome to the forum!
I'm not sure about the 2.7L diesel but the best oil for petrol engines is the OE Mobil1 Full synthetic 0W40 european formula that you can buy even in Walmart here in US for $6.27 per quart/liter. Including OEM fleese filter, my oil changes are $75 every 10K miles!
I hope some of the 270cdi owners will reply with their experience soon.
Bernard

ML270CDI.......mobil1 fully synthetic 0w 40 or 5w 40 is fine for the 2.7 diesel.

mobil1 0w 40 was specifically the oil recommended by Mercedes to use in my 2002 ML270CDI when it was new.
