2000 ML320 serpentine belt snapped
Hi everyone,
My car is a 2000 ML320. The other day my serpentine belt snapped on me. While driving the smell of burning rubber started to fill up my car. I thought I could make it home because the smell started to dissipate but came back again a few minutes later. Soon after my power steering cut out and I was able to park the car and check the issue.
My question is what are the most common causes for this issue? I could replace the belt but I'm concerned that the belt wasn't cause. My guess is a bearing seized and started rubbing against the belt. Does anyone have any insight as to how I could troubleshoot for the issue?
Thank you,
