both the seat controls on my '01 g500 are unreliable and can work OK, BACKWARDS OR ONLY ONE DIRECTION OR NOT AT ALL. this is difficult to live with. What's the reason and what should i do? I am normally pretty good with repairs and also at electrical or electronic diagnosis, but this thing is very frustrating. Have seen stuff online but a lot of it sounds like mumbo jumbo!

 

Try taking the control module out and give it a good cleaning. This worked for me.

 

you need to take it to the dealer. they have you replace all the wiring in the door for the seat control modules. there is a service bulletin pertaining to that complaint. you might be able to get away with doing something else but im sure youll still have the issue. its a contact problem.....MB says. there are like 6 wires in each door that get replaced... i could show you the bulletin but im not sure how to copy or email the page. im sure someone on here knows how.
