Default 2008 GL450 Stinks

Sorry for eye catching "Subject" line. Actually I very much enjoy my leased 2008 Gl450. However after 5500 miles and ten months (it spends most of the time sitting in my garadge), it has developed that very pungent A/C oder of musty mold.

I live in mold heaven, Miami, Fl. but have never had a car stink like this. I had the first dealer service last week and they cleaned and desinfectant the inside A/C. The oder changed to a strong desinfectant for a couple of days and now is back to moldy oder.

Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables Service rep. said there was nothing else they could do and suggested I press the "A/C Res" button to ventilate the moisture from the system prior to shutdown.

Very disappointing responce. I now open all windows, start the car with high fan on and stand out side the car till the oder has subsided, it never goes away, just becomes less pungent. But still feel this is a health issue to occupants.

I have searched the forum for related topics and found none. I can't beleave I am the only one experienceing this. Help!

Are you circulating air back into the cabin from inside or taking air from outside?

Thanks for responce. No, a dead animal was what I checked first before sending to Dealer for service. I seldom (Now never) used the recircle air feature, prefering fresh air into the cabin.

The oder is still as bad as before Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables Serviced the A/C system. It appearse not to be of transeate nature, the car can sit in my garage for a week and still smell as bad as a month ago.

Thanks again Robert

This is a huge problem for mercedes-benz. This is a huge problem for the E-class but never heard a complaint from a GL. They have made updated heater boxes for the E-class and a cleaning procedure to get rid of the moister that builds up in the boxes causing the moldy smell.. If they have no updates for it yet then Im sure there will be some soon. In the mean time just run the fan speed high to try and dry out the moister.

Default Help!!

Hey guys...hopefully you can help me out.. I bought a used 2008 GL 450 and it has about 60k miles on it. Just recently I noticed that it's leaking water underneath in small amounts.. Is this normal? has anyone else had this issue. Also I had to reverse back to my house a couple of weeks ago..left my wallet.. and the car will not go over 10 mph in reverse.. is there a pilot on this model? and last but not least.. when I open the door with the car off.. I hear an air pressure sound as the car elevates... is that normal? My first MB so I want to make sure everythings ok!! Help me out if you can
