I am just wondering about winter wiper blades. This is my first Mercedes and yesterday my wife went to the Autoparts store and bought a Bosch winter wiper blade. She had to go to to the Mercedes dealer after ,and he told her you couldn't install a winter wiper blade on a Mercedes... so he sold her a Mercedes wiper blade,is that true.

when I bought my 99 E320 about 4 yrs ago, the wiper blade chattered and left
some streaks. so i went online and ordered a pair of Bosch blades. before they
arrived, I removed the blade and soaked it in silicone fluid (spray can at store
cost me <$7) overnight. next day, I soaked rag in silicone and wiped the blade
in see-saw fashion for about 10 mins. silicone acts as a moisturizer. the blade
became more pliable and all squeeking, streaking and chattering stopped. i never
put on the new blades since 2004 and have continued to use the original, treated
blade. anecdotal, yes...but perhaps worth trying.

I am not too happy about the difficulty in buying a wiper blade for my '98 E320. If memory serves me correctly, itis supposed to be 25".Every auto parts store that I have found sells 24" or 26" blades. It's frustrating. I found a MB parts source online and got a Bosch blade for about $25 delivered. I know that I will haveto replace my bladein the fall again and am not looking forward toshelling out another $25 for a blade. My first Benz,'90300E had a wiper blade refill that you could buy from the dealer for about $7. It took a few minutes to put on the arm, but the time was worth the money. From what the dealer in Sarasota told me,MB does not sell refills anymore. You must buy the blade and the only one that I have ever seen soldby MB or a parts store is from Bosch. Great blade, but you will pay forit. If anyone knows of a source for the refills for the wiper arm, let me know. Happy driving. [8D]
