why spark plug last for few weeks only!
hi miss america,
My w124 230e had experience this problem for almost a year.
it will show sign starting with poor idling, difficult cold start and finally wont be able to start at all.
I ve check or replace cold start vave, idle valve, fuel valve, temp sensor, overload relay even fuel pump relay.
Please help.thanks

Hi King Classic,
1.Have you change your plugs to the correct spec to the WDB124 M102 engine?
-Find your spec on Bosch or Beru website.
2.Have you Clean up your Throttle Body using Carbon Cleaner spray can?
-Throttle Body Cleaner Spray into the Throttle, let the Carbon deposits Flush out and clean the Combustion chamber from the sticky deposits. Make sure you do this on an open air area (There are various products to use, better use the spray can) *Read the instructions on the can before use.
p/s: *Spray these after a 10-15mins engine warm up, then spray it into the throttle body, that would melt down the carbon n unwanted deposits inside the air intake system.
3.Have you clean up your K-jetronic system ?
4.Have you replace your spark plug cables?
These are guidelines you need to look upon before you go further. Post up on what you found out

hi rockerfella,
have the throttle body clean up,renew idle valve and hose, electro hydraulic actuator,o/load protection relay, fuel pump relay.
but the engine won't start after afew days.the idling unstable.switching the air conditioner on and off it a seconds after i got a dead engine.
Tested the Crank Position Sensor and EZL temp sensor...
both failed.
Plug cables, rotor, coil ht lead have been renewed but the problem still there.
Thank you.

remove air filter again to check on engine...........notice that Brown Black wire to Electro Hydraulic Actuator snap!
Soldered em together. After a couple of attemp the engine fires!stop and start again a couple of times.seems working.
i guess thats why i got a lean air fuel mixture on the spark plus and finally damaging the spark plug!let the car runs a few days see what happen!!?:-)

hi all,
have renew the temp sensor to the ECU and solder back a broken Brown/Black wire to the Electro Hydraulic Actuator.
Starts fine.switch on the a/c,engage in driving gear also fine.
Theres a faint misfire at idling and a little hesitation during early stage of acceleration.
Still haven't renew the worn out CPS though.

ok.initially i got short spark plug life.
well..the indication is all the plug have white porcelain when i checked.
its a very lean mixture!
the cause of it was an air leak at vacuum hose for the ICV.
to make things worst, the fuel pressure was low due to faulty Electro fuel pump and
faulty fuel accumulator which make hot start impossible!!!
now,i have the car as good as new, blasting the M ways well over 170 kph with ease!
case closed.
thanks rockerfella,
happy motoring.
