Default W210 Sunroof Switch Woes

The sunroof switch for my 99 E300 is not working properly. Once I open (i.e., retract) the roof by pulling the switch to the rear I cannot close it by pushing the switch forward; the sunroof does not budge. I can try to close it by pressing the switch up to pop the window up. If I let go at the precise instant the roof shuts but the instant before it starts to pop up I'm OK--maybe. Of course, it takes a lot of tries to get it right. And even then I don't want to chance dousing the car incase I did not get it exactly right so I don't take the car out of the garage if there is rain in the weather forecast. My MB dealer looked at it and told me they "reset" it. That worked for a few days but not any more. Does anybody know how I can "reset" the sunroof myself? Any idea how to replace the switch myself?

Your owner's manual should have a procedure to "synchronize" your windows / sunroof.

Default I have this same problem -- did you find the issue?

My dealer tried the synchnoize and said it didn't work. I'm thinking it's a bad switch module. Was that what finally fixed it for you? I'm a DIYer now having discovered how easy these cares are to work on. But I hate to buy the switch if you found something else that fixed what is clearly the EXACT problem I'm having. THANKS!
