w124 blower motor trouble

Now, do you have any idea where the blower motor fuse is and what it looks like?
Under the hood, on top of the left fender (driver side), in a black plastic box which opens from the side.
The box is about 1 1/2in long by 3/4 in wide, 2 black wires coming out of each ends.
Open it up....there a flat metal fuse inside.

since my e300 d engine was replaced the blower motor hasn't worked. Perhaps regulator wasn't reinstalled properly. Is it a big project to fix.

More detailed advise needed [and appreciated]plse...
The posts re blower motor replacement seemto contradict eachother [?]Mustthe blower motor be replaced from the engine compartment, or from under the dash? How long should it take to replace one?
There's a shop here in townthat wants to charge $600+ and claimsone has to remove just about the entire dash [89 300CE]!?Thanks :-}
