Default used 2004 mercedes E320

I was looking at a used 2004 mercedes E320 yesterday and it had about 68,000 miles on it. I don't know too much about mercedes' so could anyone tell me if 68,000 miles is bad or not? I know that most cars that get to about 100,000 miles start having engine troubles and what not so I do not want to spend money on a used car that will break down in a matter of time. The dealer is selling it for $27,000 but we are making an offer for about $25,000. Is it worth it for 68,000 miles??Also, can anyone tell me more about the 2004 E20?? How many MPG can I get on this car? Does it drive smoothly? I was thinking about getting the new 2008 honda accord, but my parents are pressuring me into getting the mercedes. The new honda accord has a lot of things that I like about it such as the back up senors, fuel economy, one touch sunroof, v6 engine, etc.

Tops it is worth $22,000
run from it. the 04 w211 was the most recalled car in mercedes history.
Electrical problems, brake by wire problems, lemon law turn ins.
You want a nice mercedes find a w210 e320 from 2002 inspect it pick up a low mile example and you will pay about 12-13k and you will enjoy it.
Otherwise get the honda, cuz you will gamble with the 04 and if you cant afford to gamble you cant afford the pitfalls associated with the w211 model e320

$27,000? OMG. way over priced. I would also recomend the W210 E class. I have one and it has been great and has been very low tomaitaine. If you are going to buy an 04 E Class then you better get it looked at realy realy well. Other wise it will cost a lot in the end. Please do not but that priticular car for $27,000 ITS WAY OVER PRICED AND TOO MANY MILES FOR THAT PRICE AND YEAR.

Not to beat a dead horse, but Ohlord is absolutely correct about the value and the issues that may confront you about this model year. The brake by wire is truly "weird" and the potential laundry list of "failures" in the dashboard warnings are enough to make any sensible buyer of a post warrenty car either look elsewhere or pay only what you can afford to spend with the future repair costs included. A benz can be a great car but the Honda is a more sensible buy.

It also depends how much you drive. With gas the way it is now and if I had to travel a lot then I would buy a Honda. For me I work very close, my wife works very close only about 3-4 miles one way for each of us.

Don't give up on the E320 Class, I love mine. I did, however, get a 2003 with about 55K miles on it for about $19.5K so everyone is right that the price of $27K is high.

Look also for a lease return because the owners of leases are required to have the car serviced regularily where the private owner does not. Check different recall internet sites to find out the recalls and the tech sheets. Tech sheets are the items that do not make it to a recall status but still important to know.

Good luck in your search.....nothing like a Mercedes or the pride of ownership that comes along with it.
