Default trailer hitch on 99 4matic wagon

I find that there is only one, made by Dalan, available for about $330 from Dalan and $250 from Uhaul, easy to install, and strong: 1 1/4" receiver, rated for 2500 lbs but not too much on the drawbar. All this is good, I think. I will install it myself since the installation will compromize the rust-prevention in the area a little, and I will take care to red-lead the bare metal, bed the faying surfaces, and replace the sealant the best I can. Does anybody have a warning or a comment? I tow light boat trailers mostly, very occasionally a 1500 pound boat a short distance, and do longer distances ith a 900 lb wooden sailboat. Can anybody tell me what I am facing with respect to wiring? Should I expect to get the usual US to European adaptor, or has Mercedes made it easier by now? Thanks for any advice---Mason Smith
