Default Tick! Tick! Tick!

Hello everyone, new to the forum. I have a 1988 300E that I am restoring with 162,000 miles on it. Seems like the comfort circuitry fuse is shorting. But my real question is what is that ticking sound coming from my glove box? I took out the glove box and found an item with numbers written on it. Seems like vacum hoses are attached to it and it just won't stop ticking. I looked at it and found a part number: 124 800 0178. I called my local dealer and auto part store, but neither could tell me what this part was, or, what it did. I queried the net, but no matches.

I would like to replace it, however, I don't know what to ask for...any help would be greatly appreciated.

was it rectangular shaped with lots of different colored vacuums attached?

if it is, then it's a switchover valve for a/c flaps.

your model doesn't use stepper motor yet.

Do you have any idea why it would be ticking?

at about what frequency does it tick? Hz. (per second).

does it happens with a/c on or off?

it is controlled by CAN.

if the signal is distorted or the a component is defective, such malfunction is possible.
