Strange behavior Windows & Sun Roof Open Automatically
I have 2001 E-320 and lately it has started to behave strangely. When parked locked or unlocked after some time - all 4 windows roll down mysteriously as well as sun roof wide open. This has happened to me 5 times since last 3 days, not sure what the issue is. I have been careful in keeping my remote key away, so I know for sure that I didn't sit on it or anything like that... When driving I hear click and my doors get unlocked, but windows do not roll down. I have driven for 120 miles yesterday and it was just fine. This seems to happen only when I park the car, lock it using remote and give it some time to this on its own. I am freaked out, was thinking of taking to dealership tomorrow. Have anyone experienced this behavior in past? Any suggestions/thoughts appreciated,
Hi,
Welcome.
Does this only occur at one given location?
If so I suspect IR / RF (Infra red / Radio frequency) interference with the feature that allows you to "lazy lock" the car.
This basically allows you to open or shut the roof and windows from your key remote.
However if it occurs in more than one location and you are sure that you don't have any RF devices with you in the car it becomes a little more interesting.
Possible water on the door handle sensors etc.

Try removing your battery from your remote for a few days. You can still use the emergency "key" in the remote to open your door. Try it. If it stops behaving in this manner.... you have more info.
If not... I'm afraid that your car is haunted.[sm=boosign.gif]

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the tips, it had happened to me in 3 different locations.
1) In my Garage
2) In my work Parking Lot
3) At a store
Although, since I posted here for thoughts - haven't had another occurrence.
Maybe it is haunted

for some reason, my gut would suggest - 1) check the door pins
to see if they need replacing/adjustment ($20 @pin replace)...or
2) check under rear seat for water in the PSE pump/battery well.
look for heavy moisture wreaking havoc in this heavily localized
electrical zone.
