Default Starting Problem 1994 E320--NEED HELP

I have a problem starting my e320. When i turn the key to start it, I hear a loud beep, the only lights that come on on the dashboard are the SRS, the Battery, and the ABS light, then the SRS light goes away and the Battery and the ABS light stay on along with the loud beep and the car wont start. No starter engagement, no fuel engagement, nothing. If i close the door, beep goes away yet I do hear a loud clicking sound. Figured out it was coming from the Multi-function relay. However I was reading and it said this relay controls the hazard lamps, the blinker and the wiper system among other things. Yet all three of those work fine on my car. The clicking is loud and apparant to that relay. I really dont know where to start on this matter, so I thought I will ask the good guys on this forum for any help. Thanks in advance.

Amazing...sounds just like what happened to my wagon. See last post on 12/4/05. Try cleaning all of your fuses and the fuse holders. I lost the starter, brake lights , dash gauges , parking brake light, just to nane a few, and it all started with a "buzzing" coming from the combination relay, just as you describe. I couldn't figure it out, so it cost me $363 for a mechanic to clean the contacts. Of course they wouldn't suggest that over the phone...live and learn. Good luck, I hope it's as simple as that for you. Oh, they also replaced the fuses with copper ones as opposed to the aluminum. Everything looked perfect in the fuse box on mine, so don't assume it is, just because it looks OK.

I'm glad it worked. I never in my wildest dreams would have thought the solution so simple. Could have saved myself the 73 bucks for the combo relay, too!

Thanks so much guys. I had the same problem with my 1994 E320 sedan. I came across your post, and a little WD-40 later - voila!! What a huge, huge relief.
