The strangest thing happened today. I have a e320 sedan 99. It was working fine. U shut it off and left the key in the ignition. I tried to start it up again and it wouldn't start. That normal but as soon as I take the key out and put it back in again it starts. Only this time it didn't. I took the key out and tried starting it again but nothing. All the lights come on so it's not ye battery. The car doesn't crank or nothing. It just doesn't start as if I wasn't turnin the key. I don't think it's the starter. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?

 

My best guess:

* The key has failed.
* The disabler security system has engaged.
* The disabler security module has failed.
* The steering lock has failed, it has been superseded, and requires two parts

park switch, brake petal switch, why not starter or wiring to it
