staggered wheel sizes?
Hi,
the stock wheel and tire size is 205/65/15 on a stock W210 E230. It is a german version with a 4 cylinder 2300cc engine.. I am drawn to replace these wheels since it looks very small on a relatively big car.
Is it ok to upgrade to a bigger wheel with a staggered set?? such as a 17" or 18" from an AMG or Brabus wheel??
I was inclined to think that these staggered wheels will do damage to the car eventually since it was not designed for the car? Or shall I just place 4 identical wheel set of a 225/45/17 size? Alhough the staggered set really looks nice.
Thanks.
What is the best wheel and tire size to put in aside from the stock wheel

RE: staggered wheel sizes?
be sure that the bolt seat is of proper shape and mates to the wheel properly.
depending on whether you purchase MB or aftermarket, the rim can be conical
seat or ball seat. the bolt diameter is also important, obviously, as well as the
proper offset. forego spacers as they can cause problems if not carefully fitted
or picked....and longer bolts are then needed.
then, select tire with circumference which matches the factory issue spec.
tire calc
after reading up on wheels for months, I selected 8" and 8.5" wheels off a
2005 E55 for my 99 E320. this mod required conversion bolts from otisincla.com.
the tires i had originally were 215-50-16 all around. i ended up with the stock
E55 staggered configuration of 245-40-18 (8") and 265-35-18 (8.5") which put
it within a point or two of 99 E320 factory circumference. i have RWD.

RE: staggered wheel sizes?
Thanks for the reply.
I feel kinda angry with Mercedes why they decided to put in 15" size wheels as stock. With this car size and the price we paid for it when it was new, we should have at least had a 17" as stock as what they are doing NOW with the newer W211.
Now, we have to upgrade the wheels since it looks really small and car looks very dated due to these small wheels.
