Default speedometer that thinks its a clock

I have an 01 E320 who's speedometer moves in a second hand motion, ticking not a smooth operation. It comes and goes, usually between 40 and 70 mph. not sure if weather effects it? I need to change a burnt bulb in the dash, so I was wondering if there is anything i can do to it when I pull it out? Ex: lubricating it? Or will this make things worse? I also do have the usual dead pixels in the gear/temp/time section like everyone else.[:@]
