Default Sleepwalker, transmission leak

2000 E320 Automatic Trans RWD

1) Do you know what size tap and helicoil you would need to fix one of the six transmission pan bolt holes?

2) A few inches above the transmission pan on the passenger side, there is a 2 inch round plug that sticks out of the transmission block and has a shield cover infront of it, what is this? It's leaking.

Thanks

i am not sure about the tap size (maybe 6mm) but the helicoil is just following the thread anyway. you need to oversize the bore in order to bring the bolt on original size.
how could it get loose thread anyway? the torque for that is just 10Nm.

the leak is coming from plug adapter for the wiring harness. very common problem. replace it together with 2 seal rings. (got 8mm head bolt inside to remove it out. easy fix)

A203 540 00 53 - adapter
A026 997 41 48 - seal ring
A026 997 40 48 - seal ring

How do I get the wire connector out? I understand I have to loosen the 8mm bolt to get the plug adapter. Thanks

Here is a pic of my view:

you simply turn that yellowish bayonet lock counterclockwise. it will come off.

Oh by the way, is fluid going to rush out once I remove the plug adapter if I don't drain the pan? Thanks

Thank you Sleepwalker, job is done.

After inspecting the old plug adapter and the seal rings, they were not damaged. I did notice however that the new plug adapter had different seal rings. Were the old red seal rings not doing the job? The new plug adapter had white seal rings. Thanks again for your help.
