I want to drain and refill the coolant in my 2000 E320. What steps would you take to get the job done right? I would really appreciate it if you could show me that section in the repair manual. Thank you

complte removal of coolant?

open hood
remove cap
raise the car
remove lower engine compartment panelling
open radiator drain plug
open the crankcase drain plug..you got 2
then close the drain plugs and refill coolant

capacity is maybe 10 liters. 50/50 coolant and water.

there isn't much on that manual but to show the location of components.

I have removed the engine compartment plastic at the bottom before when I cleaned the engine bay. I noticed that the radiator drain plug was red. I'll have to look for the crankcase drain plugs. Do they look just like the radiator drain plugs?

I checked in my manual the coolant spec, did you mean 10 quarts?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how I plan to refill the radiator:
1) Fill the radiator all the way up to the opening.
2) Fill the radiator resevoir up to the "full" mark.
3) Start the engine without the radiator cap on until bubbles appear signifing the release of the air pockets.
4) Shut the engine off and fill the radiator up to the opening if necessayry.
5) Reinstall the radiator cap.

crankcase plugs looks similar to that brake bleeder but much bigger. you may need to use 17mm wrench to open it... no need to remove.

that's correct, but you can also keep the a/c heater on so it can release the air bubbles from the line. temp must reach at least 87 degrees to get full circulation.

do not overfill expansion tank. leave some space for coolant to expand.
