Default Satellite Radio

I have a 2006 E350 with standard audio system; no navigation and
no satellite radio. Does anyone have experience installing an
aftermarket unit and using the aux (ipod) jack in the glove box?
Is there a way to hook on to the feed from the rear window antenna?
The aftermarket antennas are magnetic and frankly won't look so great
tacked on to the roof .

I have thought about mounting the head unit behind the ashtray door -
anyone else done this?

As an alternate, is there an aftermarket unit that works with with
the factory radio? I took the car to the local MB dealer, they quoted
$1000 in parts and $600 in labor . This is not an appealing option.

Any and all information will be appreciated.

Default XM Radio

I am running into the same issue and wanted to know if you found any solution. I have a 98 E320 and bought a portable XM radio. I would like to use the "line out" of the XM radio into my car radio but it is to old to have that option. The Sure Connect broadcasts the signal in the car but needs to be near the rear antenna. I have not had great success with that either.
