I just purchased a 40 month old 2001 E430 Sport. It still has 500 miles on the original warranty plus another 20 months on the certified warranty... Yesterday, I noticed rust breaking thru at the lower left corner of the truck opening. I'm pissed and very concerned. If it's already rusting, what the hell is this car gonna look like in a few years? What are the chances MB is gonna fix this mess. It should be covered under the warranty, but I hear MB doesn't like covering rust damage.

Any info would be a huge help thanks... Aside from the rust, the car is a real sexy bitch!

 

sexy bitch huh? I thought my car was the only sexy bitch but I guess today you've prove me wrong. Thank you sir. Anyway TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. Talk to the manager of the place and tell him that you just purchased this car and found rust breaking through. They should fix it for free since you have the warranty. If by any chance they refuse, KICK THEM WHERE IT HURTS and run away.

 

I went to the dealer today, and they're gonna fix it for free. The bigger questions is why a 40 month old car (an expensive car) is rusting. That concerns me.

So far, my dealership has been very good with honoring the warranty.

I can se that you are concerned by the rust problem.
In norway where i live,we got a wery big problem with rust, because in the winter they use salt on the roads.
I got a 2000 E220 CDI T, that have rust on all doors,and a little bit on the roof and some other places
I visit MB workshop and they will remove the rust or change the doors for me,within the rust warranty for 30 years.
I ordered time to do this 2 days ago and this will be improved 6. march 2006.
