So I'm into all sorts of European cars; I had a BMW 323i, now I've got a SAAB 900 SE Turbo (Stage 2). I'm looking into getting into the world of Mercedes for with a cheaper vehicle investment, but one that has a lot of potential. I'm looking at age range being between 1980-1993 or so. I do like the E-Class overall (comparable to BMW 5 series?) (however I other classes are alright too) and was wondering if anyone could suggest some exact models to me that are: 1.) Manual Trans 2.) Not horribly expensive to upgrade 3.) DIY friendly for overall motor/body work 4.) RWD 5.) Has good handling 6.) Not REALLY slow (I've got a friend with a total slug of a BMW 325e, sad)
So tell me what you guys think, I'm new to this brand so I'd like to hear some of your advice. BTW I have no objection to diesels.
