This might be a complete "noob" question, but is there a code reader for pre-1996('95 in some cases)Mercedes? I have a '92 300E 4-matic. I really have no idea.

You can read codes with a homemade code reader. It is pre obdII so the system is a little more basic. Check this link to make your own, http://www.k6jrf.com/MB_X11.html or check check e.bay, I have seen them for around 40 bucks, you will also need to find the code chart - which is out here on the internet somewhere! I think I have one on my computer at home.
