Problems with headlight (Xenon)
Hello.
I have a '98 E300TDT with factory Xenon headlight. Since a few weeks back it has been started to fail, when I swith on the light it goes on, but sometimes it is "flickering" and then just dies. I have tried with a new lamp, but no success. Feels expensive and tricky to faulttrace since my multimeter stops at 1 000V... Any idea what it can be? Where are the control unit placed?.
Thanks in advance

RE: Problems with headlight (Xenon)
My friend has the same problem w/ his '05 C230 Kompressor, we spent the whole day at the place he installed it and the people in the back just kept the engine on and the lights on but didn't flicker... but as soon as we exited the plaza the annoying lightshow started and soon after that we were driving in the dark. If anybody knows anything about this problem, please help.
On a lighter note, when my friend was driving down a street here in City of industry, his lights started to flicker, and the cops pulled him over and "advised" my friend that strobing head lights are illegal. I cracked up when he told me.

RE: Problems with headlight (Xenon)
- was the OEM headlight factory installed?
- has the car ever been toggled by the dealer to read 'hid present?'
- if yes to both, i'd begin to suspect the ballast.
- are both lights flickering or just one side? switch bulbs....then ballasts to isolate problem. report back
